As we approach Otavalo, you will notice an area rich with culture. Indigenous people in local dress come from all over the country to sell their handmade wares. Once we have had time to fill our bags with goods we drive to Cuicocha Lake. Lunch.
Leaving Quito at 8:00am, and travelling North on the Pan-American Highway observing Imbaburas beautiful scenery. First visiting the Eastern Equator monument In Cayambe, after that we’ll go see a biscuit factory (a typical pastry from this colourful city). We will then go to the look-out point on Laguna San Pablo; a beautiful lake where you’ll have plenty of great views of the Imbabura volcano.
We’ll head to Otavalos world famous indigenous market where you’ll spend two hours getting to shop around and getting to try out the local cuisine. We will then continue on to Cuicocha, a volcanic crater-lake, for a short walk. And to finalize our tour we’ll visit the Peguche waterfalls, some sacred waterfalls for the local indigenous communities. Returning to Quito at about 6:00 pm.
