| Day 1: upon arrival to Chiritza by bus (with transfer from Lago Agrio if you flew in), you will board a motorized canoe and navigate on the quiet Aguarico river to puca peña, a large sandy beach where we will set camp for the night. dinner and campfire. | ||
| Day 2: very early breakfast before breaking camp and continuing downriver to the playas of Cuyabeno to the Quichua community where you will observe their customs and way of life. you will also enjoy the delta where the Cuyabeno river empties out into the Aguarico river (a usual play area for the pink river dolphin). we will continue up the Cuyabeno river to visit the aguas negras and aguas blancas rivers. we will arrive to the amarumposa cabins where we will stay for two nights. | ||
| Day 3: breakfast at 8 am before hiking through the forest where your guide will introduce you to various medicinal plants. you will also have the opportunity to observe monkeys and parrots, among others, and with luck you might even spot a jaguar. you will also run across various animal tracks (tapir, armadillo, paca puma, etc.). in the afternoon, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the river and try your luck at fishing pirañas. after dinner, weather and river conditions permitting, your guide will take you on a nocturnal caiman watching canoe ride. | ||
| Day 4: breakfast before continuing up the river to the Cuyabeno lagoons. you will have a boxed lunch on the way. upon arrival at your new camp by the laguna grande, you can enjoy the sunset and also swim and play with the pink dolphins. dinner and sleep. | ||
| Day 5: at down your guide will take bird lovers to observe the numerous bird species encountered in the area. return to the camp for breakfast. you will then leave for the pato cocha and garzo cocha lagoons, via canoe, before heading to your last camp, the Cuyabeno River Lodge. | ||
| Day 6: breakfast very early in the morning. you can then choose the activity that you enjoyed most during the previous five days and experience it again (hiking, fishing, canoe ride, etc.). lunch before taking the bus back to Quito. | ||
