Leaving Quito at 8:00 am with a bilingual guide, we take you south on the majestic Pan-American Highway to the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. Upon entering the national park we will do an acclimatization hike around Lake Limpiopungo for approximately half an hour. After lunch, we will hike for an hour more to the refuge (4800m). From there we continue onto the glaciers for half an hour. From here the adventure begins; we will have a great down hilling experience going from the glaciers down to the National Parks flatter surface for a maximum enjoyment of the beautiful landscapes Cotopaxi has to offer. We will go a maximum of 32 km before we make our way to Lasso to spend the night. B/L/D
We’d be leaving our hotel early in the morning after a good breakfast, starting our trip to the Quilotoa Crater Lake. Firstly, arriving to the small town of Saquisili, and getting on our bikes, we will make our way through the town seeing their small market before we head to the lake; when we arrive we will have a small ride up to the top, and we’ll go around the crater. We’ll then head down to the lake itself, where we’ll have fantastic views of its unique scenery. As we make our way back up, we’ll have the option of going back up on bikes or on donkey back, which makes for a great experience. Later on we’ll make our way back to Quito at about 6:00pm. B/L/-.
