Quito, Riobamba Guargualla. We’ll leave Quito at 8 am, driving on the Panamerican highway, heading South, we’ll stop in Riobamba and have lunch. Afterwards, we will arrive at the Guargualla Chico village, where we will begin the Sangay trek. We will arrive in the village around 4:00 pm. We will set upo camp, eat dinner and Sleep for tomorrows activities. -/L/D

Guargualla Chico – Escaleras. We’ll have breakfast at 8 am. After we begin our trek through this remote area of the Guargualla with it’s beautiful flora and fauna. Rincón Escaleras – Plazapamba. We’ll have breakfast at 8am. We’ll continue our trek today until we arrive to the pleasant Plazapamba valley and enjoy the scenery surrounding us. We sey up our next camp in the Plazapamba valley. B/L/D

Plazapamba – Playas. We’ll have breakfast at 8 am. Today we will continue our trek into Playas, where we will set up our next camp for the night. B/L/D

Playas – Sangay Summit at 5230m. – Playas. Today we will move early in the morning at 4am. After breakfast we’ll reach highgrass or paja a typical type of Andean grass. After another hour, we find ourselves with lava rocks on the way up of the mountain. We’ll then reach the window (ventana) at 4180m,. we will then begin the hike up the steeper part of the volcano; where we can find volcanic ash and new rock lava on our way up. After 6 or 7 hours we will reach the summit. We will be able to take some pictures, and we will rest a bit before we go back down to our Camp in Playas. B/L/D.
