Known in Spanish as Barranquismo, this relatively
new sport consists of descending along the course
of a river, follow its formation phases, while combining
mountaineering techniques, cave exploration, and
swimming in tours throughout Imbabura province’s
magnificent scenery and landscapes of waterfalls
and canyons. Examples of these natural wonders where
canyoning can be done include the Peguche Waterfall,
The Paniquindra Canyon in the Esperanza region,
and the Balsapamba Waterfalls in the Intac valley.
