SOUTH AMERICA’S INDIGENOUS MARKETS

Otavalo

As one the most prominent indigenous groups of Ecuador, the Otavaleños are internationally renowned for their textile industry and other hand-crafted goods. This community of craftsmen still holds strong to traditional customs, dress, and to their native language, Quechua. Between the craft, animal, and food markets, this small town booms to life on market-day.

Travel north on the Pan-American Highway
observing the beautiful scenary of Imbabura,
